MUSICAL FALL
IN PRESOV
This was the 34-year of Presov's
musical fall and I learned about this day from my friend and the deputy
director of the Presov's house of culture and also director of one of the
BEST AND GREATEST Slovak folklore ensembles Sarisan,
Laci Kiselak. The program was named The Bridges of Friendship-Evening of
nations and nationalities. Six nationalities were presented during this
evening: Slovak, Rusyn-Ukrainian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Gypsies, and
Romanian. Performing were Sarisan from Presov, Puls also from Presov and
Budapest from Budapest. The secret motto of this program was "What
politicians can't agree upon, the folklore and culture puts
together." In 34 years of the Presov's Musical Fall, there was never
ever international participation like this. I really enjoyed this evening.
It started with excellent performance of Sarisan followed by Puls
and then
after intermission came the Hungarians. What a performance. They were
dancing and singing in Romanian village where Hungarians, Gypsies, and
Romanians live together. They had musicians on the stage and stared with a
solo song. Their singer was unbelievable, dressed in a suit and his voice
was just fantastic. The dances were performed with real feeling and ease,
just fantastic. I am really happy that I was able to attend this
performance.
