NEW
SLOVAK 5000
Sk BANK NOTE
On May 22, 1995, Slovakia
issued a new bank note in 5000 Sk denomination. Recently I have received
some materials with pictures from the director of Banska Bystrica's
Office of the National Bank of Slovakia Ing. Jozef Kreutz. As before I
like to share them with you.
The note was printed in
Germany by Giesecke & Devirient a printer of valuable papers.
It shows a portrait of a
Slovak hero Milan Rastislav Stefanik, born on July 21, 1880, in village
called Kosariska, tragically died in Ivanka pri Dunaji (close to
Bratislava) on May 4, 1919. He was an important diplomat, statesman,
politician, soldier and an astronomer. The portrait is complimented on the
left side by artistic elements showing sun and half moon characterizing
part of his life that he dedicated to research and observation of
astronomy. On the back side is the picture of his final resting place,
monument of M. R. Stefanik at Bradlo. Overlapping the picture is apart
of Big Bear constellation and on the right side top and bottom are
pictures of flowers: Poniklec Velkokvety.
The author of the
artistic design is academic artist Jozef Bubak who also designed the
previous new Slovak
Bank Notes The author of the engraving for the plates is Czech
engraver Vaclav Fajt. This note is designed with the same safety measures
as the previous notes.
